Candidates must have:

  • Experience issuing PCNs

  • Experience of note taking and report writing

  • Experience dealing with members of the public

Job Overview

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking experienced Parking Enforcement Officers to enforce traffic regulations across both on-street and off-street parking locations.

You will patrol designated areas within the borough, issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), and ensure compliance with Traffic Regulation Orders. This is a frontline public-facing role requiring confidence, professionalism, and strong written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol controlled parking zones (CPZs), bus routes and designated areas

  • Issue PCNs in accordance with Traffic Management legislation

  • Enforce footway parking bans, school keep-clear markings and other contraventions

  • Maintain accurate written records and pocket logs

  • Provide witness statements and attend adjudication hearings where required

  • Assist the public and respond to parking enquiries

  • Report street defects, abandoned vehicles and antisocial behaviour

  • Check and maintain enforcement equipment

  • Drive council vehicles or patrol on foot as required

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in parking enforcement

  • Experience using handheld enforcement devices

  • Strong report writing and note-taking ability

  • Experience dealing confidently with members of the public

  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations

  • Good understanding of Traffic Regulation Orders and PCN procedures

  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail
