Job Overview
Elmbridge Borough Council is seeking a Procurement Assistant to support the Procurement Business Partner in delivering efficient, compliant and value-for-money procurement services across the organisation.
You will assist with the procurement of goods, works and services, ensuring regulatory compliance while enabling the council to deliver high-quality services to residents.
This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and an interest in public sector procurement.
Key Responsibilities

Provide procurement support across multiple service areas within the council

Assist with procurement exercises for commonly purchased goods and services

Ensure procurement activities comply with council regulations and the Procurement Act 2023

Use the councils electronic tendering portal and contract management systems

Support the councils transparency obligations, including maintaining the Contracts Register
-
Draft legally compliant outcome letters and ensure timely communication

Assist with the development of procurement procedures, guidance and best practice documentation

Keep up to date with procurement legislation and regulatory changes

Provide general administrative support to the Procurement Business Partner

Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work
Essential Experience & Skills
-
5 GCSEs including Maths and English (or equivalent experience)

Experience contributing to successful project outcomes

Ability to demonstrate sound professional judgement

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to meet project deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel

High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable Experience
-
Experience working in a public sector procurement environment
-
Understanding of procurement processes within local government
-
Knowledge of current procurement best practice in the public sector

University degree (desirable)
