Job Overview

Charnwood Borough Council is seeking an experienced Plumber to join its repairs team and support reactive maintenance across council tenanted properties.

The role will involve carrying out plumbing repairs and maintenance work to a high standard, ensuring good workmanship, a quality finish and a customer-focused service for residents.

The successful candidate will need excellent plumbing skills, pride in their work, strong customer service skills and the ability to work well as part of a repairs team.

This is a Plumber / Housing Repairs role.

Candidates must have strong plumbing skills and experience carrying out reactive maintenance or repairs, ideally within council housing, social housing, domestic properties, voids or responsive repairs.

The successful candidate should hold a standard plumbing qualification or be able to demonstrate significant practical plumbing experience.

Candidates must be customer-focused, professional, reliable and able to work in occupied council tenanted properties.

Candidates without plumbing repairs, reactive maintenance, domestic plumbing or housing repairs experience are unlikely to be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out plumbing repairs in council tenanted properties
Support the responsive repairs team
Complete reactive maintenance works
Attend occupied domestic properties
Diagnose plumbing issues
Complete repairs to a high standard
Ensure work is completed safely and professionally
Take pride in workmanship and final finish
Provide a customer-focused service to tenants
Work effectively as part of the repairs team
Communicate professionally with residents and colleagues
Support improvement of local communities through quality repairs service
Follow council procedures and site requirements
Maintain good standards of cleanliness and care while working in properties

Essential Experience & Skills

Strong plumbing experience
Experience carrying out plumbing repairs
Reactive maintenance experience
Domestic plumbing experience
Experience working in occupied properties

Additional Information

Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 08:00 to 16:00, and Friday, 08:00 to 15:30.
