Job Overview
Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Temporary Accommodation Officer (SO2) to support the Temporary Accommodation team during a peak in workload.
This role focuses on managing temporary accommodation placements and addressing complaints, member enquiries, and property standards issues. You will work closely with managing agents, property inspectors and internal housing teams to ensure accommodation is suitable, compliant and delivers high standards for residents.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on Temporary Accommodation complaints and member enquiries

Liaise with managing agents and internal colleagues to ensure suitability of accommodation

Work closely with property inspectors to drive up standards across TA stock

Monitor and manage TA placements, ensuring compliance with statutory duties

Manage casework to support residents and improve customer satisfaction

Maintain accurate records and produce reports where required

Ensure legislative and contractual compliance across TA provision

Deliver high-quality customer service to residents in temporary accommodation
Essential Experience & Knowledge
-
Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation (Part VII Housing Act 1996)

Experience managing temporary accommodation placements

Experience dealing with complaints and member enquiries

Knowledge of property standards, housing health & safety and compliance

Experience working with managing agents or accommodation providers

Strong organisational and case management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
