Job Overview
Worcester City Council is seeking 2 LGV Class 2 Refuse Drivers to support the Waste Management service.
This is an urgent temporary role driving Class 2 HGV refuse vehicles as part of the Council's waste and street scene operations. The successful candidates must be confident driving refuse collection vehicles safely, working as part of a crew and supporting the completion of daily waste collection rounds.
This role is suitable for experienced LGV Class 2 / HGV Class 2 drivers, ideally with refuse, waste collection or local authority driving experience.

This is an LGV Class 2 refuse vehicle driving role.
Candidates must hold the correct LGV / HGV Class 2 driving licence and be confident driving refuse vehicles in a waste collection environment.
Previous refuse, waste collection, dustcart or local authority driving experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates without the correct Class 2 licence or relevant large vehicle driving experience are unlikely to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive LGV Class 2 refuse vehicles safely
- Support daily waste collection operations
- Work as part of a refuse collection crew
- Follow allocated collection routes and instructions
- Complete collections efficiently and safely
- Operate in line with Council waste management procedures
- Carry out vehicle checks where required
- Report vehicle defects, hazards or operational issues
- Work safely around loaders, pedestrians, traffic and residential areas
- Maintain a professional approach when representing the Council
- Follow health and safety requirements at all times
- Support the Waste & Street Scene service during a busy operational period
Essential Experience & Skills
- Valid LGV / HGV Class 2 licence
- Experience driving Class 2 vehicles
- Confidence driving refuse vehicles or similar large vehicles
- Understanding of safe driving in residential and urban environments
- Ability to work as part of a waste collection crew
- Good awareness of health and safety
- Reliable and punctual approach
- Ability to follow routes, instructions and operational procedures
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a physically active waste collection environment
- Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable
- Previous refuse vehicle / dustcart driving experience
- Previous local authority waste collection experience
- Experience working in waste management or street scene services
- CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Manual handling awareness
- Knowledge of Worcester or local collection routes
