Job Overview
Islington Council is seeking a Project Liaison Officer to support the Capital Programme Delivery – Mechanical & Electrical & Lift Team.
The role focuses on delivering high-quality communications with internal and external stakeholders, taking ownership of all non-technical communications associated with capital works projects. This includes newsletters, resident updates, complaint responses, and supporting legal processes to secure access to properties where required.
This is a resident-facing role requiring excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability, and the confidence to manage complex enquiries and complaints independently.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on all non-technical communications relating to capital works projects

Coordinate and respond to Stage 1 complaints linked to works undertaken by the team

Draft and issue resident newsletters and project communications

Respond to communications from elected members, Directors and senior managers

Work closely with contractor Resident Liaison Officers

Engage with tenant and resident associations (TRAs and TMOs)

Organise, chair and minute resident meetings (virtual and in-person, including evening sessions)

Use Oneserve and NEC systems to access and update project information

Coordinate customer satisfaction surveys and analyse results

Initiate and support legal action to secure access where required

Maintain compliance with GDPR, health and safety, and council procedures
Essential Experience & Skills

Degree level qualification or minimum 3 years experience in a similar role

Excellent written communication skills with experience drafting formal responses

Experience handling complaints in a public sector or housing environment

Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement experience

Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely

Experience working within social housing or local authority settings (desirable but strongly preferred)

Ability to work independently with strong time management skills

Ability to attend and chair evening meetings

Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (Power BI desirable)

High level of emotional intelligence and awareness of local political context
