Job Overview

Hillingdon Council is seeking a Senior Family Engagement Officer to join its Family Hubs and Childrens Centres service.

This is a front-facing role supporting families at the point of entry to services, providing information, advice and guidance while ensuring families can access the right support at the right time. The role plays a key part in early intervention and prevention by creating a welcoming and supportive environment for children and families.

You will also support centre operations, maintain accurate records and data systems, and work closely with multi-agency partners across social care, health, housing and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome families and visitors into the centre and build positive relationships

  • Manage the reception area and ensure a high standard of customer care

  • Respond to enquiries from families, professionals and partners via phone, email and face-to-face contact

  • Provide information, advice and signposting around childcare, health, finance and family support services

  • Maintain accurate family records, registrations and attendance data within the childrens centre database

  • Act as a database super user supporting colleagues with system use and data quality

  • Coordinate the Your Bump and Beyond antenatal programme locally

  • Produce statistical reports and support the wider team with administration and centre operations

  • Ensure all data handling complies with safeguarding and data protection policies

  • Support community engagement and maintain relationships with parents, carers and local partners

Essential Experience & Skills

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (A–C)

  • Experience working effectively in a busy team environment

  • Strong ICT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families and professionals

  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a multi-agency environment

  • Knowledge of the issues affecting children, young people and families

Desirable

  • Experience working in a Childrens Centre or similar family support setting

  • Experience working with families with complex needs

  • First Aid at Work qualification

Reporting To

Childrens Centre Co-ordinator

Additional Information

Enhanced DBS required.
Postholders may occasionally be required to cover other local sites to meet service needs.
