PAYE Rate: £102.86 per day

Estimated Hourly Rate: £13.71 per hour
Based on 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, approx. 7.5 hours per day.

Job Overview

Swindon Borough Council is seeking a Seasonal Park Warden to run and maintain seasonal facilities at Coate Water Country Park.

The role will focus on operating the Pitch & Putt kiosk and course, the crazy golf course and The Splash Park. Duties will include selling tickets, using card payment machines, issuing equipment, carrying out course maintenance, completing water quality checks, cleaning facilities, litter picking and engaging with the public.

The successful candidate must be reliable, self-motivated, confident dealing with the public and comfortable working outdoors in a busy country park environment.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working with the public, handling payments, maintaining outdoor facilities and working weekends and bank holidays.

You must have good timekeeping, organisational skills, communication skills and adequate numeracy skills to confidently use card payment machines and handle ticket sales.

Candidates who cannot work weekends or bank holidays are unlikely to be suitable.

Key Responsibilities

Run the Pitch & Putt kiosk
Sell tickets and use card payment machines
Issue equipment to customers
Sell and restock cold drinks and ice creams
Provide general information to members of the public
Set up and close down the Pitch & Putt and crazy golf courses
Operate sprinkler systems
Maintain greens, fairways, crazy golf course and surfaces
Carry out mowing using ride-on and push mowers
Complete vegetation management including shrub beds and weeding
Run and monitor the Splash Park
Carry out water quality checks throughout the day
Clean and maintain the splash pad, system and surrounding area
Empty bins and litter pick
Monitor maximum capacity and enforce Splash Park rules
Complete toilet checks and cleaning
Assist with wider country park duties where core duties are covered
Support cleaning of toilets and BBQs
Support statutory safety checks including play park and dams
Engage professionally with the public, contractors and external events

Essential Experience & Skills

Strong customer service experience
Confident dealing with the general public daily
Good communication skills
Good timekeeping and organisational skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Adequate numeracy skills
Confident using card payment machines
Comfortable working outdoors
Comfortable carrying out cleaning, litter picking and bin emptying
Able to carry out basic grounds maintenance tasks
Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays
Reliable and flexible approach to work

Desirable

Full UK driving licence
DBS certificate
Grounds maintenance, parks, leisure, kiosk, visitor attraction or facilities experience
Experience using mowers or outdoor maintenance equipment

The role includes working weekends and bank holidays. Bank holidays will be compensated with a day in lieu.
