Job Overview
London Borough of Lambeth is seeking 2 Grounds Maintenance Operatives to support the delivery of grounds maintenance services across a range of sites.
The role involves carrying out general and specialist grounds maintenance duties, helping to keep outdoor spaces safe, clean and well maintained. You will support the Housing Operations Manager and Supervisors in delivering an effective and efficient service while ensuring equipment is used safely and responsibly.
This is a practical outdoor role suited to someone with grounds maintenance experience, good customer awareness and the ability to work as part of a team.

This role requires practical grounds maintenance experience and the ability to carry out outdoor physical work safely and efficiently.
Candidates without relevant grounds maintenance experience are unlikely to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general and specialist grounds maintenance duties as directed
- Help deliver grounds maintenance specifications across multiple sites
- Use equipment safely and efficiently to minimise financial and environmental impact
- Maintain outdoor spaces to a high standard
- Support supervisors and managers in delivering an effective service
- Advise members of the public and support stakeholders on day-to-day environmental issues
- Resolve routine issues sensitively and professionally
- Act as a positive ambassador for the Council at all times
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction with the service
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience in grounds maintenance or outdoor environmental services
- Ability to carry out physical outdoor work
- Experience using grounds maintenance equipment safely
- Good understanding of health and safety in an outdoor working environment
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliable, practical and able to follow instructions
