Job Overview
Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Domestic Violence Team Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Barnet Domestic Abuse Safety Hub (BDASH).
The service provides advocacy, safety planning and trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic abuse across Barnet. The successful candidate will lead a specialist team, including IDVAs, DAIOs, a Senior DAIO and other practitioner roles, ensuring the service delivers safe, effective and person-centred support.
This role requires strong domestic abuse service experience, leadership experience, safeguarding knowledge, MARAC experience and an IDVA qualification.

This role requires direct experience in domestic abuse services and management of specialist domestic abuse or advocacy staff.
An IDVA qualification is mandatory, such as SafeLives IDVA training or equivalent Level 3 regulated qualification in supporting victims of domestic abuse.
Candidates must have strong knowledge of domestic abuse legislation, safeguarding frameworks, DASH risk assessment, safety planning, trauma-informed practice and MARAC processes.
Candidates without domestic abuse service experience and an IDVA qualification are unlikely to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of BDASH
- Lead and supervise IDVAs, DAIOs, Senior DAIOs and specialist practitioner roles
- Ensure survivors receive timely, effective and person-centred support
- Maintain a trauma-informed, inclusive and culturally responsive service
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and acted upon
- Manage service delivery against contract requirements and local authority expectations
- Monitor annual team and individual work plans
- Manage relevant contracts, partnership agreements and pathways
- Produce performance and monitoring reports for commissioners and stakeholders
- Provide line management, supervision, coaching and mentoring
- Facilitate team meetings, case discussions and quality assurance activity
- Monitor individual and team performance against KPIs and outcomes
- Manage underperformance where required
- Oversee effective use of case management systems
- Build relationships with police, health, housing, children's services and voluntary sector partners
- Represent BDASH at multi-agency forums, including DA MARAC
- Support integrated and co-located working arrangements
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion across service delivery
- Monitor expenditure and support budget planning
- Ensure policies, procedures and safeguarding standards are followed
Essential Experience & Skills
- Significant experience working in domestic abuse services
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals affected by domestic abuse
- Experience delivering or managing advocacy and support services
- Experience managing specialist staff, including IDVAs or equivalent practitioners
- Level 3 regulated domestic abuse qualification, such as SafeLives IDVA or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualification domestic abuse work experience
- Experience of MARAC and multi-agency partnership working
- Strong safeguarding knowledge
- Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and policy
- Knowledge of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014
- Understanding of DASH risk assessment and safety planning
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Understanding of civil, family and criminal justice processes
- Experience using case management systems
- Ability to manage service performance, KPIs and outcomes
- Leadership, supervision, coaching and staff development experience
- Ability to work with commissioners, partners and stakeholders
- Ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written reporting and communication skills
- Commitment to survivor-centred, anti-discriminatory and inclusive practice
Desirable
- Degree-level qualification in Psychology, Mental Health, Counselling, Social Work or related field
- Degree certificate
- Basic management training
- Experience managing budgets or monitoring expenditure
- Experience working with police, health, housing, MASH or children's services pathways
- Experience working in a local authority or commissioned domestic abuse service

An Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List is required.
