Job Overview
Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced TA Compliance Officer to support the Temporary Accommodation service.
This role focuses on ensuring Temporary Accommodation properties remain compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements, while also supporting inspections of existing and new properties and working with the TA Commercial Manager around TA property acquisition.
The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring compliance documentation, identifying non-compliance issues, carrying out inspections and helping maintain safe and suitable accommodation standards across the service.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of the compliance programme across approximately 1,500 TA units
Request and collect statutory and regulatory compliance documents including Gas Safety, EICRs, EPCs, FRAs, Legionella and HMO licensing
Review certificates for validity, accuracy and expiry dates
Upload compliance documents onto NEC and maintain accurate records
Update and maintain the centralised compliance tracker
Flag non-compliance, discrepancies or non-cooperation to the management team
Undertake inspections of existing and new TA properties to check standards, occupancy and welfare
Investigate disrepair complaints, Member enquiries and Councillor enquiries and prepare reports
Prepare Schedules of Work for landlords or managing agents and follow works through to completion
Record inspections and provide weekly statistics
Complete suitability and audit forms with clients and upload them onto Jigsaw
Update notes on Jigsaw and NEC
Carry out additional inspections referred by Housing Regulation, Income Recovery and other teams
Essential Experience & Skills
Strong experience in property compliance, ideally within housing or Temporary Accommodation
Excellent understanding of statutory property compliance and how to manage non-compliant properties
Experience carrying out property inspections and producing written reports
Experience investigating disrepair issues and preparing schedules of work
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage compliance records accurately
Good IT skills and ability to use housing or compliance systems effectively
Ability to work independently and manage site visits alongside office-based duties
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with landlords, managing agents and internal teams
Desirable
Experience using NEC and Jigsaw
Experience working within a Temporary Accommodation or Housing Regulation setting
Experience supporting property acquisition or onboarding of new accommodation units
